Dakin Humane Society seeks an experienced and enthusiastic development professional to be a member of an expanding development and marketing team. The Manager of Annual Giving, reporting to the Director of Development and Marketing, is responsible for planning and implementing strategies for all aspects of annual giving (direct mail appeals, online giving, tribute/memorial giving, and the monthly Guardian program) to obtain the financial resources necessary to support the organization’s mission:

Identifies, researches, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospects/donors for annual unrestricted gifts.

Writes annual giving solicitations and other materials related to direct solicitation of annual and leadership donors.

Develops and implements strategy for the For the Animals Leadership Society, the annual fund donor circle for donors of $1,000.00 or more, including identification, recruitment, cultivation, and retention of members.

Produces reports and conducts analysis of donors and prospects with an eye toward acquisition of new donors as well as increasing the giving level of current donors.

Develops and implements an annual donor benefits and recognition plan.

Oversees the gift acknowledgment process.

Works with support staff to achieve high standards of gift stewardship, including a healthy donor database, well-groomed mailing lists, and effective and timely gift acknowledgments.

Works with the events manager to conduct solicitation and cultivation events for annual and leadership donors and prospects.

Supervises direct reports in the performance of their respective job responsibilities.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum of two years experience in nonprofit development, particularly with annual giving and donor acquisition. Knowledge of donor databases, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and common email platforms. Proven track record in writing compelling, successful solicitation materials and in successfully leading prospects through the cultivation and solicitation cycle. Two years of direct supervisory experience required.
Must possess superb written communication skills, be an excellent verbal communicator, a strong project manager, and have attention to detail.
